Ants

Ants Commonly Found in NJ

Ants are one of the most common types of insect pests found in NJ, but they’re not all the same. Monmouth County pest control services deal with many different ant species. Find out more about some of the more common ants found in New Jersey.

Carpenter Ants

These ants are larger than other common ant species in NJ. Adults can measure up to 3/4 inch in length. Carpenter ants, which are black, destroy wood by digging through it in order to build their nests. Since these ants can form very large colonies, infestations can lead to extensive wood damage.

Sugar or Pharaoh Ants

These ants are the tiny ones that usually only grow to be 1/16 of an inch long. Unlike many other types of ants, these ants have a translucent appearance and are a light yellow or reddish color. You’ll likely find these ants close to food and water sources in your home. They don’t usually cause damage, but they can spread harmful bacteria.

Acrobat Ants

Acrobat ants are black or yellowish-brown ants that can grow to be a quarter inch long. They usually don’t nest indoors, but they can still be a problem outside since they’re known to bite.

If you have ants in your home, contact Allison Pest Control as soon as possible. We’ll provide Monmouth County pest control services that can rid your home of these tiny bugs before they cause significant damage.
