Poisonous Spiders in New Jersey

While most spiders won’t hurt people, a few can be dangerous if they bite. Which spiders should you be watching out for in your home? Plan on having an NJ exterminator come to your home if you have any of the following venomous spiders.

Black Widow Spider

Black widow spiders are found in all states, but they’re not as common as other types of spiders, such as house spiders. Black widows have black coloring with a red marking shaped like an hourglass under their abdomen. These spiders have bites that can cause severe pain, nausea, and other symptoms.

Brown Recluse Spider

Brown recluse spiders can range in color from a grayish brown to yellowish. Most have a dark brown marking shaped like a violin on their body. When these spiders bite, they inject a cytotoxin that can cause tissue damage in severe cases. While serious cases are rare, it’s important to seek treatment for these bites.

Yellow Sac Spider

Yellow sac spiders have a yellowish coloring and build a silk tube or sac, which they hide in during the day. These spiders are small and are usually found outdoors. However, they can be found indoors, such as in basements or other dark spots. Their bites can cause a burning sensation and redness.
