Act Now to Reduce Mosquito Populations Around Your Home

Mosquitoes are one of the drawbacks of warm weather. These bugs can reproduce in high numbers, leading to large populations. You can rely on professional NJ mosquito control service and take the following steps on your own to prevent mosquito infestations.

Get Rid of Standing Water

Mosquitoes lay eggs in water, so eliminating standing water makes it harder for them to reproduce. Empty containers in your yard that have standing water in them, such as flowerpots and bird baths. Dump water out of pet bowls each day and refill them the next day for your pets. If you have plastic pools, empty them each day as well.

Clean Gutters

Clogged roof gutters can provide a place for mosquitoes to lay eggs, resulting in big populations that are hard to get rid of. Have your gutters cleaned once or twice a year to prevent this from happening.

Clean Your Pool

Keep your swimming pool clean and chlorinate it, even if it’s not being used. Otherwise, it can turn into a breeding spot for mosquitoes. These pests can also lay their eggs in standing water that collects on swimming pool covers.

Fix Window and Door Screens

Make sure screens on windows and doors aren’t torn. Repair holes in screens or replace them with new screens in order to prevent mosquitoes from getting inside your home.
